The Out of this World “Nido de Quetzalcoatl”

A project of the Mexican architect Javier Senosiain, the “Nido de Quetzalcóatl” or Nest of Quetzalcoatl in English, is a beautiful representation of organic architecture that incorporates geodesic design models, colorful natural lighting, and a touch of ancient Meso-American mythology to bring the concept together.

Of course, Quetzalcóatl is a revered deity in many cultures in the Meso-American area that went by different names over different times. But we know this deity by the Aztec representation of him as the Beautifully Colored Plumed Serpent – god of wisdom, self-reflection and the giver of the sacred spirit of life.

This architectural wonder asks, “what if instead of the heavens, Quetzalcoatl lived in a secret garden to the northwest of Mexico City?”  We could say this place is a secret hideout for the deity, when it’s time to come down to spend time with us mortals.

Something notable about the Nest of Quetzalcoatl is that there are no straight lines nor 90 degree angles (as nature does not produce such things).
