La Merced is one of the oldest and largest market areas in the Americas and the largest traditional retail market in Mexico City. The location of this market has been home to commercial activity since the early colonial period and became a permanent structure in the 1860’s.
Our tour will wander along the crowded paths of Markets Merced and Sonora (an adjoining market across the street). We will explore homemade candies, rows, and rows of meat & produce, sample moles, taste farm to table tacos and adventure through the wildness of Sonora market known for its black magic and the other side of the Mexican spiritual world.
